The department of Juventud y Deportes have launched a programme of walks in Lanzarote for 2010. The walks will be guided routes along dirt tracks and paths covering different areas of Lanzarote, there’s also an opportunity to join in excursions to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura too. Two of the walks will be caminata nocturna which means a walk during the night. Playa Quemada to Papagayo (distance 17km, high level of difficulty) 15th May 2010 Tinajo to La Santa (distance 12km, low level of difficulty, nocturna / night walk) 6th June 2010 Haría to Órzola (distance 19.7km, high level of difficulty) 26th June 2010 Betancuria – Ajui (Fuerteventura) 18th September 2010 Teseguite to Famara (distance 17.4km, low level of difficulty, nocturna / night walk) 24th October 2010 Gran Tarajal to La Playita (Fuerteventura) 31st October 2010 Costa Teguise to El Charco del Palo (distance 18.7km, low to medium level of difficulty) These walks are open to residents of Lanzarote, the aim is for you to explore the island from a different perspective and everyone is welcome. The walks are limited to groups of 30 to 50 people depending upon the route.
