We were asked recently by a comment from Rankgowers if we could report back on the progress of the restoration of Playa Flamingo in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. Work on the popular beach of Playa Flamingo started at the end of October following a 4 year wait, I last visited the beach as part of my promenade walk in January 2010 where evidence of work was visible and part of the beach was still open. However at the moment the beach is closed with no access allowed, today it looked more like a building site with diggers, a crane and dumper trucks driving loads off the beach. Unfortunately there is no indication of how long the project is expected to take on the notice board, simply the presupuesto amount of €2.568,178 Euros stated. Playa Blanca still has the town beach, Playa Dorada and Papagayo but the facilities at Playa Flamingo are off limits for the time being. |
